Creative Commons Licenses

Creative Commons License selector - choose the right license for your material plus generate code to apply CC information to your online resources (see footer of this site for example)

ImageCodr embed
For Flickr Creative Commons and Public Domain images. The ImageCodr site provides search access to Flickr where, if desired, you can refine your search to locate only images free to use commercially or free to adapt.
The Bookmarklet can be used when displaying any image from Flickr, you will be advised if the image is not CC licenced.

CogDog's Flickr CC Attribution Helper embed
Similar to ImageCodr.

Using this tool also gives you a plain text version of the attribution suitable for use where embedding images is not possible, for example in a document or Google Slides. (In this case: flickr photo by denn https://flickr.com/photos/denn/17794619 shared under a Creative Commons (BY-SA) license).

Alternatively...
When you get the bookmarklet you can decide on a default image size and a couple of different formats. One option is to generate the image with the attribution stamped on it. I have two versions of the bookmarklet in my Bookmarks toolbar, stamped and code generator.

Search Flickr

Once you've initiated a Flickr search (Shortcut: from the Omnibox "site:flickr.com search term") you can filter by license including locating images with no copyright restriction.
Flickr also provides some nifty search filters for colours or style.
Compfight An image search engine with filters. Searches Flickr and other sites. Embed code with attribution is available.

Find CC0 and Public Domain images and videos

Pixabay.com - my favourite! Includes videos as well as images. Download, modify, distribute, and use royalty free even commercially. Attribution is not required but I like to provide a link back to the original. Pixabay also has a Chrome extension to display photos on your new tabs, either the editor's choice or filter for your own preference.
Unsplash Same conditions as Pixabay (ie none!). Some seriously beautiful images are available here and it has recently become even more useful with the addition of search. Sign up to have 10 new images emailed to you each week.
Trove Fantastic source of historical photographs. Most can be used for educational purposes with appropriate citation. Citation information in several formats is available for each item.
Morgue File Similar to Pixabay and Unsplash although you'll find more amateur photos here as anyone can upload images to share (the other two have an editorial process for quality).

Music and Sound Effects

It's not ok to use the latest top 40 hit as a backing track on a video even if it is for educational purposes. You might get away with it for something that is not published online but that doesn't make it right.
Fortunately there is plenty of music available that is Creative Commons licensed including some that doesn't even require attribution.
YouTube Creator Studio includes an Audio library where you can search and filter by genre, mood, instruments and length. Tracks can be added to videos uploaded to YouTube or you can download them to use elsewhere. If attribution is required there is text provided for you to include in the video's description. The audio library also includes sound effects. Too easy!

Plagiarism, referencing...

Use the research tool in docs to locate information and add a footnote (not ideal but better than nothing).
EasyBib add-on for docs - search for books, journals and websites and create a reference list from within your document. Often doesn't pick-up the author from a website.
EasyBib extension Provides more editing options (eg add the author for a website) but free version limited to MLA7 format
Cite This For Me extension. Excellent customisation. Choose from huge range of source material, not just books, journals, websites. Lots of different formats. Gives in text reference and bibliography. Free version is limited to one bibliography only, saved for 7 days, pro version expensive.

Hands on time
