Ultranet

Picture
From 2010-13 Victorian government schools had a Learning Management System called the Ultranet. Teachers used the Ultranet to assign and assess Learning Tasks; to collaborate with their colleagues; record and share their professional learning; create resources for their students, and communicate with parents.

The Ultranet was officially killed off at the end of 2013. In 2014 I chose to write a case report about the Ultranet for my Masters of Education subject Designing Spaces for Learning. The completed report can be read here or on Learn, do teach.

In 2016 an Independent Broadbased  Anti-Corruption Commission inquiry (IBAC Dunham) was held into possible corruption in the tender process and alleged corrupt behaviour of DET employees and businesses involved in the establishment of the Ultranet.

I was the leader of my school's Lead User Group (known as SLUGs) - it was my job to train and encourage teachers, to support them in creating Collaborative Learning Spaces and Learning Tasks, and work with them and their students registering and using the Ultranet.

I wrote a series of blog posts on various web 2.0 tools with information and tips about embedding in Ultranet applications.
